Is it really safe to use retreads on my truck or car??

The Answer in One Word is YES

If you are wondering whether you can use retreads on your truck, passenger car or most any other kind of vehicle, the answer is definitely YES.

However, you must always deal with a top quality retreader, preferably one who is a member of the Retread Tire Association or another industry association, since this indicates a commitment on the retreader's part to producing only the best quality retreads.

Retreads have been safely used and continue to be safely used by school and municipal buses, commercial and military airlines, small package delivery services including DHL, FED EX, PUROLATOR, UPS, postal services in the U.S, Canada and many other countries, taxis, racecars, fire engines and other emergency vehicles, and by millions of trucks and passenger vehicles of all sizes worldwide.

A good example of how safe retreads are is to look at the insurance industry. If retreads were less safe than new tires, insurance companies would add a premium to the insurance rates for vehicles using retreads, but in fact they couldn't care less whether their insured uses retreads or new tires, because the accident rate of vehicles using retreads is no different from that of vehicles using new tires.

There is even a U.S. Federal Executive Order (13149) MANDATING the use of retreads on certain federal government vehicles.

In summary, you can rest assured that if you deal with a reputable retreader you will be buying a retread that is as safe as the best new tire, but at a far lower price than a comparable new tire and you will also be doing your part to help the environment because retreading is recycling and retreads are far more friendly to the environment than new tires.
