THE PASSING OF EDWARD JAMES PETROS

We received the following sad news today from our good friend
Ed petros and we are honoring his wish to post the following.

Harvey…. Unfortunately, I am writing with somber news. Sunday morning, Father's Day, my father passed away quietly in his sleep. He was a proud tire professional and the 2nd generation of a Four generation tire family. I would really appreciate it if you could make mention of him in your newsletter to honor him and all families that have enjoyed generations in the tire business.
 
 Edward James Petros was a 2nd generation Tire Professional. He attended WVU and went to work in the family tire business in 1955 with his father, George "Pete" Petros and Pete's three younger brothers, at JEPCO Tire in Wheeling, West Virginia. In 1964, he started Tire Sales Inc. in Mt Echo, West Virginia, a wholesale truck tire retread shop. He continued to operate Tire Sales Inc. until his son David Petros acquired it and thus spawned a 3rd generation of Tire Professionals. Edward James Petros was the proud father of 3 sons in the tire business, David E. Petros - Owner of Oasis Tire, James E. Petros – Manager of Oasis Tire, Edward E. Petros – DSM of GCR Tires & Service. He was also a proud grandfather of Ryan Petros, a 4th generation Tire Professional working at Oasis Tire. Edward James Petros was very proud of the family heritage of Tire Professionals and the opportunities it provided for his family for generations.
 
   As requested, no formal services will be held. A "Celebration of Life" family gathering will be held Saturday, June 27th.  Memorials in the name of Edward James Petros are being accepted at the Marshall County Animal Shelter, RD 5 Box 210, 12th Street, Moundsville, WV 26041,  (304) 845-9770.
