WE SADLY REPORT THE PASSING OF OUR GOOD FRIEND DAVE ALDRICH. FOR YOU WHO KNEW DAVE YOU KNOW HE WAS A VERY SPECIAL GUY. WE LEARNED OF HIS DEATH FROM HIS SON, DON, WHO SENT THE FOLLOWING EMAIL TO US.  DON'S EMAIL ADDRESS IS SHOWN AT THE END OF THE EMAIL HE SENT FOR THOSE WHO MAY WISH TO SEND CONDOLENCES.

Harvey,

My Dad, Dave Aldrich talked highly of you and I wanted to let you know he passed away yesterday afternoon.
He truly loved the retreading industry and think he had his share of buffing dust instead of blood his veins.

A couple of stories if I may.  When I was in my teens started working for him in a retread shop where I became extremely familiar with a pick and pliers to pull studs out of tires.  He could have let me use other easier equipment but not possible.  Me being my Father's son I had to push it, he did catch me using it and I asked my Dad how he knew I had, I thought he had eyes in the back of his head, well not quite, it's called having cameras that I did not know were in the shop.

After mastering that task (I had the blisters to prove it) I went on to inspection department and one of the biggest highlights was when I had inspected a tire and it came back in shop too be retreaded again. Man, was I proud of that.  I remember him saying if in doubt throw it out.  He taught me quality, quality, and quality we are in fact dealing with the safety of peoples' lives in our hands, so they are a lot more than just tires.

I also had the opportunity to travel with him while he did inspections and one week in particular sticks out in my mind.  The first few days seemed easy to me, and I could not hardly wait to get back home that's because we had gone to good shops to inspect.

That quickly changed the last two days, let's say those last two days totally changed my mind about what he did.  I could not believe how much he knew about the industry.

Mr. Brodsky would you please pass on the news of my Dad's passing to the Industry.  If heaven has a retread shop I can guarantee he would be running it.

Thank you.

Don Aldrich
