AN UNUSUAL RTA NEWS YOU CAN USE MEMO
June 6, 2015

Dear reader,

I am taking the liberty of sending this memo today although it has nothing to do with retreading or my role as the Managing director of the Retread Tire Association. It is being sent because I want to share a story about an almost unbelievable amount of courage displayed by a group of teenage Danish boys during World War II.

One of my best moments of enjoyment when I am not working is to read, and I make it a point to try to spend time every day reading about subjects other than about tires, although I LOVE reading about retreading and because of my job I spend lots of time reading tire and trucking magazines from many parts of the world.

However, today I want to tell you about a book titled THE BOYS WHO CHALLENGED HITLER. This is a true story about a group of boys who displayed an extraordinary amount of courage and bravery during the early days of World War II when the Nazis occupied Denmark. The boys defied the Nazis at the risk of their lives and proved to be an inspiration to their elders in Denmark who were so impressed by what these kids did.

If you want to be inspired by a wonderful and true story please get a copy of this amazing book. You will not be disappointed and if you have children or grandchildren in their teenage years I strongly recommend you get a copy for them. The author is Phillip Hoose and Farrar Straus Giroux published the book.

Mr. Hoose dedicated the book as follows:

For young people everywhere
who find the courage to make up their own minds.

A perfect dedication!

I promise you will not be disappointed if you read his book.

Sincerely,

HARVEY BRODSKY

PS: As the Managing Director of RTA I have been told by some that I should "stick to my knitting" and not send RTA NEWS YOU CAN USE memos about subjects other than retreading. The maverick in me totally disagrees.
