RTA NEWS YOU CAN USE

The following was sent to us by my good friend Bob Birks of RTA member Goodyear OTR Centre in Canada and we are passing it along in the hopes that it may help prevent a similar accident in your organization.
Workplace Death Update
Just got this from a good friend of mine, Todd Molter, sad news, but perhaps we can get some good from this. If we can help educate 1 more tire person and prevent this from happening to another member of our trade, then a single ray of sunshine will come thru the cloud that hovers over this tragedy.
Here is the latest update on the death of the employee at Feenstra Equipment in Athens. The tire it is said to be an 11R22.5 being aired up on an implement rim. We will wait for further information on this. This is a tragedy that no family should have to go through and we definitely would not want anything like this to happen within our dealer network or any place else. As stated in the article the Ministry has issued a stop work order on tire inflating. I would strongly recommend you review proper air up procedures with your staff including the use of a restraining device or safety cage and using remote inflators with an inline gauge, and sufficient length of hose to stay out of the trajectory of the sidewall area

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
There is always enough time to do it right, before it is too late.
Especially when a life is at stake.
