RTA NEWS YOU CAN USE

December 4, 2017

RTA Member, X S Products, L.L.C. (USA)

has long been one of our most active members, and

Tom Gyruriak's long expertise and vital contributions

to the Tire, Casing, and Retread business

remind us this week, that as 2017 winds down,

we need to stay together, and positive.

Here is a great message from Tom, in it's entirety, as he wrote it to us;

and we share it in the good spirit that he writes for the benefit of the industry.

This is Tom's
"Thought For The Day"
at the top of the page this time.

Jeff,

I have a different type of post I would like to put out. My intent is to help keep our industry going strong. I hope we get some feedback / input and get something going. I spend my days talking to commercial tire dealers- retreaders-suppliers and fleets big and small. I have been talking to a number them about the things in this post, the feedback has been " Good points , somehow you need to get these out to the entire industry".

Well I wasn't sure what all to say or not say so I kept it fairly short and hope I got the just of my point out.

Please take a look at it , post it if you feel it's OK to do. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss it. I am also sending it to the TRIB, along with my contact list which goes out to most of the MFG's company owned locations and a large number of top management.

- Thanks, Tom

My thoughts for the day.
Note to all Retreaders-Commercial Tire dealer and Suppliers.

I feel something needs to be said, as I see our industry slipping into the same old rut.  IE: "Its year-end, time to cut back"

Like it or not Donald Trump is president! He based his campaign on "MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" and he WON! He is changing the way America did things in the past. We as an industry need to follow his lead and do our part.

In the past towards the end of the fourth quarter and into the first quarter of the following year our industry slowed down. This was due to a lot of factors such as housing, building, truck, trailer and equipment manufactures as well as many other type manufactures cutting back on inventories, cutting hours, laying people off, cutting jobs and on and on.

All this impacted the transportation industry which impacted the commercial tire industry. Well guess what? Just about every aspect of manufacturing is up, the stock market continues to go up and the transportation industry is as strong . Trucks are rolling and using up rubber. Fleets are getting smarter, backing away from cheap import tires that do not deliver the mileage nor are retreadable.

So let's not be creatures of habit, not look back or look down but look up and ahead. Let's not cut the hours or lay off our well trained great employees that we depend on every day to make our companies who we are. We all need to be positive about the future of our industry, someone once said attitude is 90% of motivation. It doesn't matter if you are part of a big box chain or an independent, you need to look at and think outside your box.

There are so many other things that could be said, so many factors that play into it all.

Let's put our heads together as an industry, give your input. Another pillar of our industry had a great statement "help me, help you".
Thank you ??
