Michael W. Berra, of Community Tire Retreading
passed away peacefully in the early morning of February 26, 2024.  

He was born December 12, 1943 to Michael & Alice (Hoyt) in St Louis, MO. After graduating from Bishop DuBourg High School, he received a BA/BS from Southeast Missouri State. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1965-1969, and then went on to join his father & manage all facets of the company business, Community Tire CO, Inc (1935).  

He had a decorated career in an industry he loved. In addition to serving on many committees and boards, he was President of the St. Louis Tire Dealers Association as well the Missouri Tire Dealers Association.   From 1993-1995, he presided as President of the American Retreaders Association.  

His family was everything to him & he lived a blessed, full life. Until his last days, he enjoyed skiing, sailing/boating, motorcycles, and fixing/building anything and everything. He was a devoted disciple of the Catholic Church, serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Vincent DePaul Society.

Beloved husband of Carol (nee Hoevelkamp) for 58 years. Father of Michael JR (Dawn) and Christine.  Beloved grandfather of Bryce and Wyatt Petrucci.  Brother of Andrea Lukefahr, Aleta (Bill) Sunley and Phil (Beth) Berra.  Beloved uncle and friend.

Funeral Mass St Clement of Rome, Monday March 4th at 9:30 am.  Private honors ceremony at Jefferson Barracks following mass at 11 am. The family invites you to a reception at the Missouri Athletic Club West, 1777 Des Peres Rd, 63131 from Noon until 3pm.
