AS A MATTER OF INTEREST, OUR MEMO OF LAST WEEK HAS ELICITED A FIRESTORM OF REPLIES AND THEY ARE STILL ARRIVING. EVERY ONE IS FAVORABLE TO WHAT WE WROTE.

Dear Harvey,
 
It has been a very, very long time since I have read anything so incorrect and humiliating as the article by Ms. van Neikerk. If it would not come from the mouth of the largest retreader in the world, it would probably not be even worth replying to. It indicates total ignorance of the tire industry in general and retreading in particular and disregards what the world is trying to achieve recycling. If Ms. van Neikerk would only check how many aircraft tires are being retreaded several times (all), and how many passenger winter tires are retreads, she may have thought once more before publishing such rubbish.
 
With your permission, I would like to send a copy of this mail to Bridgestone headquarters in Brussels and draw their attention to a terrible potential injury to what is considered by the entire tire world as a must. It is particularly damaging, as it comes from a company like Bridgestone.
