AN UPDATE FROM HARVEY
As many of you know, I have been recovering from an accident where the recovery has turned out to be far more serious than I originally thought it would be. Unfortunately, it has left me with very limited use of my right arm - thank heavens I am a "leftie" - so I have become quite proficient typing with one finger on my left hand, although I have come from being a typist of nearly 100 words a minute to now being lucky to type about 10 words a minute.
The accident also caused a very serious additional injury to my back, which now requires me to walk with a cane 100% of the time. If you happen to see a fellow approaching you who walks like Charlie Chaplin, you can be pretty certain it's me.
I tell you this for several reasons. First to thank the many of you who have everwhelmed me with your kindness with many phone calls and emails of encouregment. And a VERY SPECIAL (and belated) thanks to my friends at RTA member Mohawk Rubber Sales of New England who sent an amazing Get Well gift of "GRANDMA'S CHICKEN SOUP along with assorted other delicious goodies! That gift from my friends brought tears to my eyes and joy to my stomach. It was was the BEST medicine I had in a very long time!
Another wonderful gift was words of wisdom from Tom Klinge of RTA member Klinge & Company. Tom explained that a proper cure for my arm and back is like a proper cure for a well made retread. Under cure or over cure will produce a poor retread. His advice was to follow the doctor's orders and let the proper cure take place. Good advice, Tom!
Secend, this is to inform you that starting tomorrow I will be spending three weeks in Iceland on a much needed health restorative vacation. During my absence the RTA office will be open and Jeffrey will be available to provide needed assistance to all RTA members and others who may need his help. Jeffrey can be reached by telephone at 831-920-4203 or by email to jeffrey@retreadtire.org. Also, both Jeffrey and I will be reading incoming emails daily and RTA memos WILL be sent on a regular basis while I am away.
Finally, i want all of you to know how grateful I am for your support during these trying times. Remember, tough times never last; tough guys do.
I'm a tough guy!
Respectfully,
HARVEY
