RTA is in Washington DC for

The Tire Industry Association's

TIA LOBBY DAY 2018

We are joining our good friends at TIA and other RTA members

for an informative day of meetings with members of Congress

and speakers addressing current issues which affect our industry.

We are here for the benefit of All Retreaders

and industry associates.

What do we hope to learn and accomplish?

With eyes and ears open, we at RTA want to know:

• How much is the Retread Industry "on the radar" with members of the current political and legislative scene?

• Who are some of our greatest allies on Capitol Hill?

• With all the current bluster about Chinese tarriffs and trade wars with some of our most important international trade partners, where do North American retreads fit into this discussion, and can there be an effective tarriff solution enacted that may help stem the flow of cheap, Chinese tires into a market that desparately needs more support for retreaders?

• Tarrifs aside, what other solutions are we looking to promote, that will help support the retread industry and it's partners.

• What about the rubber recycling, tire collection, and scrap tire and crumb rubber markets? What about pyrolysis and devulcanization of used rubber? Are these vital and environmentally advantageous markets being looked at as the assets they are, and how can we improve their stature, visability and influence.

ALL THIS AND MORE is on our minds and we will be seeking out answers and resources to share with our members.

Lobby Day gives tire dealers a unique opportunity to met face to face with senators, congressmen, administration officials and congressional staffers to discuss issues of concern to the industry and to their businesses. TIA will host a luncheon on Capitol Hill. There will also be an evening reception for dealers and participants to talk informally to senators, congressmen and Hill staffers.

Important issues to be discussed on Capitol Hill include: Estate tax; infrastructure funding; online sales; healthcare; LIFO repeal; tariffs; work opportunity tax credit; lawsuit abuse; retroactive liability; Provisions Superfund; scrap tires and used oil; National Energy Bill; strong enforcement of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act; halt the activist NLRB's efforts to ease unionization of businesses; support the motor vehicle owner's Right to Repair Act; comp time; RPM Act, and more.
