Greetings From Iceland

As many of you know, I am spending my vacation in Iceland. The other night my wife and I spent a delightful evening with Icelandic friends over a wonderful fish dinner. (They eat a lot of fish in Iceland!)

Our icelandic friends have 4 lovely children, all of whom speak perfect English.  Since my wife and I only speak a few words of the Icelandic language, we felt right at home.

One of the children is a charming and very outgoing 7 year old girl. We took to each other immediately especially when she showed us her art and doll collections. I told her about PEN PALS, and she had never heard of them but she was very interested and said she would love to have a pen pal from another country, and this is why I am writing to you today.

If you have a son or daughter (or a grandchild) between the ages of 7 and 9 years old who might enjoy meeting a new friend from Iceland, this can be a great opportunity to share experiences and learn about another country.

If you are interested, please pass along the following information to your youngster to be used in writing to her. Her name is THORDIS LILJA JOHANNESDOTTIR and her mailing address is J'ORUSEL 8, 109 REYKJAVIK, ICELAND. They can write in English and she will write back in English.

It would be a good idea for your youngster to send pictures, including pictures of any pets. The family has a very sweet dog and they live in a beautiful home.

As a matter of interest, we actually lived in their home about ten years ago when we did a "house swap" with the family, which is how we met. They lived in our home in California and used our car while we lived in their home in Iceland and used their car. This is a great idea (and a wonderful way to save money!) and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants a most enjoyable and unforgettable vacation in a country of your choice. If this is of interest to you, please contact me and I'll be happy to provide more information.

In closing, although I am loving being in Iceland - our 8th trip - I do look forward to getting "back in the saddle" with my friends in the retread industry.

All best wishes,

HARVEY
