THIS IS AN UPDATE TO OUR NEWS YOU CAN USE MEMO SENT THE OTHER DAY WITH AN ARTICLE TITLED Tyres ARE NOT just consumables; they are a high value asset FROM OUR GOOD FRIEND ADAM GOSLING
OF RTA MEMBER TYRESAFE AUSTRALIA.
ANOTHER GOOD FRIEND, WILLIAM DE ANDRADE OF RTA MEMBER AVM DOMINICANA SENT THIS DELIGHTFUL EMAIL, SHOWN BELOW,
AND I PROMISE IT IS WORTH READING!

Wow, this is a great read! Thanks for sharing!

Since our company also offers tire (oops, sorry) tyre management services to fleets, we can only agree with Mr. Gosling.  It may be different in different markets, but for us there are four major costs for a fleet:  fuel, maintenance, labour and tyres.  The fun part?  Here it goes:  most companies have Human Resources specialists to make the most of their employees, they have highly trained and educated people on engines, fuel efficiency and lubricants to make the most out of their engines and parts, and then they have a guy with a hammer and two tyre irons, without a clue of what a budget means, handling tyres - one of the largest operational cost for a fleet.  I told you, funny stuff!

At least that's how it is in our market.  And I don't mean to be disrespectful to any tyreman (heck, I'm a tyreman myself), but the secret to success in this and any area is to have the right resources in the right place.  A friend of mine once told me:  you don't need to change the oil on your truck's engine at all, you only need to change your engine more often!  The same goes for tyres, you don't need to maintain your tyres, you only need to replace them more frequently.

Another fascinating point Mr. Gosling made was about asset management.  It's just amazing how companies are willing to spend thousands of dollars hiring auditors and experts to help them make effective use of their assets, but when it comes to tyre the suggestion for a similar approach is received as absurd and ridiculous.   Some even expect their tyre / retread suppliers to do that for free.  The irony is astonishing.

Great article, congrats to our colleague in Australia.
