There's a lot to be learned from reading
Adam's series of articles for TyreTrends Magazine.
We reprint here what we hope will be the first of many of these articles.

We do this with the through the generosity of Antony Powath

Adam Gosling and the team at TyreSafe Australia provide guidance and direction for all tyre users. Safety is paramount, so is efficiency and sustainability. Tyres are a globally universal product, the requirement for tyre safety is also a global standard.

Here are a few intro comments from Adam.

"It is interesting to note that retreading is not very popular in Australia anymore. People are happy to sit on a commercial jet landing on retreads but won't have them on their heavy vehicles or passenger cars. The impression that a new tyre, even of low quality is "safer" than a quality casing retreaded by a reputable company (only ones left now!) seems to be difficult to dissolve.

It is as difficult as the fact that vehicles over 4.5t in Australia are not required to have inflated tyres! Yes fact! Even little New Zealand legislated in 2001 that on road tyres were required to be inflated.

The bureaucrazies[sic] (you have plenty in the US too I am sure!) that inhabit the halls of power here are retro to say the least. They have little if any understanding of what tyres do and despite my years of work, even the peak heavy vehicle body (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) refuse to engage in a discussion about the importance of appropriate tyre inflation."
