Pain is real; suffering is optional

(Example: Suppose you are walking down the street and have a horrible backache. It is so bad you can hardly stand. Just then you see a 2 year old child run into the path of a speeding car, and you know that only you can save him by quickly running in front of the car to grab him just in time. What would do? Do you think your "suffering" would keep you from saving a child's life?)
